Indonesia’s GDP grows at slower pace by 4.92 % in Q1 vs Q4

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) recorded growth of 4.92 percent in the first quarter 2016, contracted by 0.34 percent from the fourth quarter 2015 (quarter to quarter) , but grew higher compared to 4.73 percent in the firs quarter last year (year-on-year), the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) announced on Wednesday.

The BPS data shows that from production side, the highest growth was recorded by financial service and insurance industry which reached 9.10 percent, followed by health industry which recorded growth of 8.52 percent and information and communication by 8.28 percent.

Mining and extraction sector, however, recorded a contraction of 0.66 percent (year-on-year) in the quarter.

In term of source of growth, the household consumption remained the largest contributor to the growth at 2.73 percent, or more than half, compared to 2.70 percent in fourth quarter and 2.75 percent in the first quarter last year, followed by fixed capital (investment) at 1.79 percent compared to 2.31 percent in the fourth quarter and 1.48 percent in the first quarter last year.

The Other components contributed 0.40 percent to the growth, compared to 2.31 percent in four the quarter and 1.48 percent in first quarter last year.
