AP II teams up with WIKA and PGAS to build gas-powered plant

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories)  – State own airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, construction firm PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (IDX: WIKA) and gas producer PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (IDX: PGAS) have joined forces to build a 60 MW Soekarno-Hatta Power Plant. The gas-powered plant project, valued at Rp1 trillion ($75 million), will kick start construction in three months and will be completed in June 2017.

AP II owns 51 percent shares in the the project while Wijaya Karya and PGAS own 29 percent and 20 percent respectively.

President Director of AP II Budi Karya Sumadi said the power plant will help the company to maintain operation efficiency and prevent flight delays. He said the power plant capacity could be increased to 100 – 150 MW to meet the airport’s power needs. Aside from the Soekarno-Hatta power plant, the airport operator is also planning to build a similar project at Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatera with capacity 15 MW and will be constructed by PT Adhi Karya Tbk (IDX: ADHI), while gas will be supplied by PT Pertagas.
