Astratel to spends Rp2 trillion on infrastructure projects

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories)  – PT Astratel Nusantara, unit of investment company PT Astra International tbk (IDX: ASII), prepared an investment Rp 2 trillion (US$147.06 million) to develop and spend on infrastructure projects such as airport, port, industrial estate and toll road.

“We just won one toll road tender in Jakarta areas and still studying another projects to acquiring this year,” President Director Astratel Irawan Santoso said on Monday.

The director Wiwiek D. Santoso added, the company joined with property developer PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk (IDX: BSDE) and  Kompas Gramedia Group has won Serpong – Balaraja tol road’s tender in Banten Province. The project estimating needs cost up to Rp5.8 trillion.

Currently, She said, Astratel still explore and in talks with several companies to take part on the toll road projects in Java Island. Other director Rahmat Samulo adding, another projects to develop are Astra Port and Logistic Center for mining, oil and gas (Eastkal) at Balikpapan, East Kalimantan and water treatment and distribution operator PT PAM Lyonase Jaya (PALYJA), Astratel own 49 percent.

Eastkal has capacity 2,500 tonnes a year in the land areas 3,712 square meters (m2), warehouse 10,000 m2 and 4,000 m2 on the sea. The logistic center has just commencement as bonded logistic center by President Joko Widodo in last March.

President Director of Eastkal Billy P Kadar explained more, beside in East Kalimantan, the company now in talks with two oil & gas producer to build warehouse in the existing location and other areas. Astratel also in process to build logistic centers for Astra Group units like a heavy equipment for Komatsu in Cilincing, Jakarta.

Astratel now have five toll road units such as PT Marga Mandalasakti (own 79.3 percent), PT Marga Harjaya Infrastrutur (100 percent), PT Marga Trans Nusantra (40 percent), PT Trans Marga Jateng (25 percent) and PT Trans Bumi Serbaraja (25 percent).

The contract of four toll projects under the units has signed with Badan Pengelola Jalan Tol (BPJT) while the new one in the process of land-aqcusition. One of the five projects, Tangerang – Merak toll road has operate while Jombang- Mojokerto at East Java, section I has operate, section 2 in build process and section three will develop soon; Semarang – Solo, section 1-2 has been operate, section 3 in develop process and section 4 and 5 land-acqusition process.

The new projecet Serpong – Kunciran as part of JORR II also in the land-aqcusition process and will start to build in 2017.
