Indonesia records inflation of 0.24% in May

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia recorded inflation of 0.24 percent in May from previous month driven by all product groups, including food and process foods, the Central Statistic Bureau (BPS) announced.

The year on year inflation in the month stood at 3.33 percent, while the calendar inflation – January to May- stood at 0.40 percent, the Head of BPS Suryamin said.

The core inflation in May was at 0.23 percent, while the core inflation year-on-year in May was at 3.41 percent. The January-May core inflation reached 1.19 percent.

BPS recorded that food products increase 0.30 percent in the month; processed food, cigarette, beverage and tobacco rose 0.58 percent; clothing rose 0.44 percent; health increased 0.27 percent; education, recreation and sport rose 0.03 percent; housing, water electricity, gas and fuel edged up by 0.03 percent; and transportation, communication and financial services rose 0.22 percent.
