Indonesia’s foreign tourist arrival rises 5.88% in H1

The number of foreign tourist entering Indonesia rose 5.88 percent to 5.29 million people in the first half of 2016, the national statistic bureau announced on August 1. Indonesia expects 12 million foreign tourist arrivals this year and 20 million by 2020, according to tourism ministry. Last year, about 10 million foreign holiday makers visited the country, it said. In June only, Indonesia attracted nearly 800,000 foreign tourists or up 0.78 percent from a year earlier. In September 2015, Indonesia extended free visa facilities to 90 countries from 67 nations in an effort to attract more foreign tourist arrivals. The government aims to attract 20 million visitors a year by 2019, more than double the 9.73 million last year.
