JCI ends morning session higher


JAKARTA – Indonesian shares ended the morning session higher on Thursday (Aug 25) led by miscellaneous industry stocks.

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) ended the session higher 23.137 points or up 0.43 percent to 5,427.129 points, while LQ-45 rose 5.139 points or up 0.55 percent to 934.162.

Seven sectorak indices rose and three declined. Miscellaneous industries index rose 2.4 percent, followed by manufacturer stocks index (up 0.92 percent), while mining stocks declined by 0.69 percent.

As many as 146 stocks rose, 131 declined and 97 stocks were stagnant.

Among top gainers were Indofood CBP, which rose 375 points or up 4.03 percent to 9,675 and Matahari Department Store (LPPF) which rose 250 points or up 1.26 percent to Rp20.125.

At midday, the rupiah was traded at Rp13,260 to the US dollar.

In the region, Nikkei 225 fell 12.29 points or down 0.07 percent to 16,585.01, Hang Seng fell 48.55 points or down 0.21 percent to 22,772.23 Strait Times rose 3.84 points or up 0.17 percent to 2,874.71. (*)
