Indonesia recorded month-on-month deflation of 0.02% in August

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia recorded deflation of 0.02 percent in the month of August from previous month (month-on-month), led by a decline in food and transportation, communication and financial services prices.

The other product groups however showed an increase.

BPS recorded that food products declined by 0.68 percent in the month; transportation, communication and financial services which declined by 1.02 percent



Meanwhile, processed food, cigarette, beverage and tobacco rose 0.41 percent; clothing rose 0.40 percent; health increased 0.39 percent; and education, recreation and sport rose 1.18 percent, housing, water electricity, gas and fuel prices increased 0.41 percent.

Calendar inflation (January-August reached 1.74 percent compared to 2.79 percent a year ago, while core inflation in August stood at 0.36 percent, core inflation in January-August stood at 2.24 percent and year on year core inflation was at 3.32. percent. (*)
