Pindad joined with Tata Motors, Rheinmetal explore market in Indonesia

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – PT Pindad joined with Tata Motors, and India’s largest automobile manufacturer and Rheinmetall Munition waffe South Africa, signed an agreement to explore market potential of Tata Armoured Vehicles and in the field of production and marketing of medium and large caliber ammunition, said the company in a press statemen.

With Tata, the company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of exploration of marketing and design customized to user specifications in Indonesia. The MoU further includes a study to check the feasibility of locally assembling Tata Armoured Vehicles at PT Pindad’s facility, in Bandung in West Java province.

“We’re going to leapfrogging, to direct national industrial companies that have cooperated with cutting-edge technology and should make us get the maximum benefit from the jump,” said the Deputy effort Mining, Strategic Industry and Media Ministry of SOEs Ferry Harry Sampurno said .

Commenting on the occasion, Biswadev Sengupta, President Director of Tata Motors Indonesia, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd – Agent licensee (APM) of Tata Motors brand in Indonesia, said,  the cooperation is a very important milestone for Tata Motors operations in Indonesia.

“This foray into the defense business in Indonesia, is in continuation with the strides made in the logistics business in the country, where more than 3,000 Tata vehicles are already on the road, covering Pickups, Light Trucks, Buses and Heavy Trucks,” Biswadev further added. 

Pindad, Theon Launch “Pindad Optronics Workshop”

At the same time, Pindad and optronic systems company from Greece, Theon launching a joint cooperation project enforced PINDAD name Optronics Workshop. The scope of cooperation Pindad and Theon includes joint production Binocular Night Shot Rifle (TBSM) in Pindad, construction of assembly lines and sales together.

MoUs have been signed since February 2015, when the construction of facilities and production lines enter the final stage so that at the beginning of 2017 may enter the production process.

TBSM result of cooperation Pindad and this Theon will be manufactured in Indonesia by maximizing the use of materials from within the country, is designed to have a high resolution, good performance and practical use. Binoculars are made to meet the needs of soldiers in the field during military operations at night and meet the Minimum Essential Force (MEF) TNI with market potential include TNI Headquarters, Army, Police and export markets.

“The rifle we have supported the performance of the military for a long time and become an organic weapons used by the soldiers in the field. TBSM which we will co-production will be designed specifically to be compatible with the weapons that are produced Pindad and already used in the field, “said Abraham.

Binoculars can then be mounted to a variety of weapons, especially Pindad who have been scattered in various units such as SS2 and is compatible with Trijicon. Type of binoculars that will be made include Damon, Erebus, Mini Weapon Sight as well as other kinds of night vision as needed.

Optical instruments in TBSM made with high technology that allows users to see in the dark at night conditions, in the woods and fields with low light conditions.

Pindad initiated cooperation with one of the global market leaders have hope that the process of transfer of technologies will run more leverage and will lead to a mastery of technology companies will increase.
